William Hamel

Research Interests:
Hamel spent 30 years at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in the robotics and remote handling area and developed numerous prototype systems during that time. He played, and continues to play, a role of senior advisor to the USDOE regarding its robotics programs and initiatives. While at ORNL, he organized and led several major R&D programs in nuclear fuel recycle and environmental clean up. While at UTK, he has continued his research in remote tooling-centric tele robotic systems and their enhancements through intelligent sensing and control. Hamel has held numerous leadership roles within RAS over the past two decades.
