Research Interests:
He has lead the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Group of LAAS-CNRS, Toulouse, France, from 2000 to 2006. From 2007 to 2010 he was director of LAAS. His personal research encompasses several aspects of Robotics and he has made substantial contributions to autonomous and cognitive robotics, including motion planning, Simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), cognitive and control architectures, human-robot interaction, and learning, and to applications in the areas of service, field and space robotics. He is author of over 140 international publications on these topics. He has participated and led several national or european projects along his career, including projects on intervention robotics (e.g., AMR), planetary robotics (VAP, EDEN) and cognitive robotics (e.g., COGNIRON).
